Up all night. Dehydrated. Tired. “Let’s get fried chicken tonight? That sound good?” she said. Well, yeah it did! And one box of Target chicken later.....I’m in a world of relentless hurt through the night. It was terribly made. I’ve had issues before with deeply fried foods but so random they are. But now, I’m off it. Even fries are a question mark.
I feel I put down a military coup in my gut. Dispersed the minor uprising in neighboring towns. It was a war. I won, but the recovery...ugh. On Football day too!

“Target”
Well there's your problem.

Since when does Target have fried chicken?

Do you have nut allergies? Some places fry their chicken in peanut oil.

As I would not go to KFC to buy underwear, I would not go to Target to buy chicken.

I’d eat KFC’s underwear before I ate their chicken .

I don’t think that’s high-quality bird there. I dunno—I’ve never had Target’s fried chicken, but I can’t imagine it being like, the thing to get.
I second the peanut oil comment—was it kind of peanutty?
I can’t stand Chik-Fil-A because of the taste of it, but others have full-blown
allergies to peanuts to watch out for
. Also, was it spicier than normal? I had “nuclear tacos” yesterday, and they were delicious, but nuclear fallout was like, immediate
.

I can’t imagine KFC is any better than Target in the fried chicken category.

Fast food there. Hungry in an hour. No peanut allergies, but I am sensitive to something in the grease family. Unsure just what yet

True, but at least it has “chicken” in their name.

I’ve been on a ( haphazard) diet since May and I’ve had more grilled chicken this year than I think I had in the last 10 combined.
I’d have a hard time doing much fried chicken at this point. I grilled chicken quite thoroughly now .

NOPE! It's just KFC now. Just like HLN no longer calls itself headline news.

Absolutely. I find the healthier I act, bike riding, hiking, etc....the less garbage I naturally eat. I love grilled chicken. We've switched all out taco meats/chili to ground turkey too....way better. However dressings are grenedes sometimes.....honey-mustard is a disaster.

KFC has really gotten pretty terrible. We ate at one somewhere in the South that had a buffet. It was sad. I did try the Double Down back when they were around. I’ve never had so much sodium in one sitting in my life.

I used to love honey mustard, but I find myself mainly looking for vinaigrettes now, and not generally doing much dressing at all.
It’s like I don’t even know myself anymore. I never thought I’d get old enough to care what I ate. Ugh.

None of the ones I’ve been to have full delis. Always some combination of Starbucks, a snack bar, and/or Pizza Hut Express.

We’re trying really hard not to eat processed foods like that.

And one box of Target chicken later
I think I have identified the problem.

Mrs BoostAddict has major problems with fry oils. She basically avoids all fried food unless it’s done in lard or very well cooked, without residual oil. Lard is no problem for some reason, but most of the commercial fry oil blends cause her guts to ratchet up to defcon 5 in short order. (she suspects she actually has some sort of gallbladder problem, but whatever the cause the results are somewhat apocalyptic .)

I’ve been vegan for going on 2 years now and I still love the smell of Popeye’s when I drive past with the windows down.
